camps bay - Cape
Town beaches |
Of the Cape Town beaches, Camps Bay
must be the most renowned. Strathmore Villa is a short walk away from
the Camps Bay beaches, famous for azure bays & long white sandy beach
lined with tall palm trees. Camps Bay is beautiful yet bustling, with
the beach’s adjacent promenade containing lively restaurants
and pavement cafes.
During the holidays, the Camps Bay beachfront is a hive of activity
and energy. We suggest you pack your backgammon, sun-cream, beach
bat and Frisbee and head for the beach! Camps Bay is particularly
popular with families and groups of young people. But be warned -
the water can be on the chilly side, although after a good dose of
tanning you probably need to cool off. If you’re the adventurous
and tough type then you can even rent a Kayak – the spectacular
view of Camps Bay will make it well worth it.
In summer season between October and March , the weather is generally
hot and dry in Camps Bay. However, when the South Easterly wind
is blowing, follow the local sun worshippers over to the neighbouring
coves of Clifton, another of Cape Town’s famous beaches. Alternatively,
if you want to escape both the crowds and the wind, we recommend
you sneak back to Strathmore Villa where you can enjoy all the benefits
of your own sheltered pool and garden!
In the winter, between April – September, Camps Bay makes an
equally wonderful retreat. Enjoy long brisk walks along the beaches
before warming up and relaxing with a bottle of red wine at one of
the great restaurants in Camps Bay.
